A local citizen's advisory board of the Montgomery County Police Department raised concern about the lack of communication between the department and the advisory board. Members indicated that they often had to rely on newspaper accounts of incidences never discussed by the police. In response to the concern, the department developed the "Hot Fax." Designed to keep local businesses and citizen groups current with police department news, the Hot Fax program notifies citizens of confirmed crimes, crime trends and patterns and wanted and missing persons. A Hot Fax is initially sent to 6 locations in the police disctrict. From those locations the fax is forwarded to approximately 200 businesses and citizens groups. |
