The Center for the Study and Prevention of Violence (CSPV) was founded in 1992 with a grant from the Carnegie Corporation of New York to provide informed assistance to groups committed to understanding and preventing violence, particularly adolescent violence. Since that time, our mission has expanded to encompass violence across the life course.

Prenatal and Infancy Home Visitation by Nurses, guided by a strong theoretical orientation, consists of intensive and comprehensive home visitation by nurses during a woman's pregnancy and the first two years after birth of the woman's first child. Typically a nurse visitor is assigned to a family and works with that family through the duration of the program.

The Anti-Violence Program provides a 24-hour hotline, intervention services, court advocacy, and training and outreach with law enforcement officials in order to prevent and respond to hate crimes.
