Healthy Hawaii 2000 is a state prevention initiative to improve the health of all people living in Hawaii. The project uses the strategy of setting health promotion and disease prevention objectives for the state for the year 2000, and measuring those dimensions over a period of time, a process that has come to be known as "benchmarking". As measurements are taken over time, the state's progress towards achievement of the objectives can be assessed.
